Went to Kings Palace. Notes Grandad noted going to the Kings Palace which was one of two cinemas in Kirkby at the time. On this occasion, he did not note what he saw there. According to the Cinema Treasures website, Kings Palace was located at 1-4 Urban Road. It opened in 1912 and closed in 1961.…

Miners strike. Notes Grandad noted that there was a miners’ strike. This was in protest at plans to cut their wages and, as a result, miners were locked out. This led to the general strike a few days later, see Chapter 25.
