This index seeks to document the Hewett School magazines that I have. Currently, these are for 1972, 1973, 1975 and 1978. I also have an anniversary booklet published in 1982 that covers the period from 1970.
The index documents each of these in turn in chronological order. For each document, the section shows the front page followed by a summary of the content. At the end of eachs ection, a PDF version of the relevant magazine is available to download.
1972

The 1972 magazine had a distinctive cover, with bright yellow spirals, and contained 56 numbered pages. The magazine started with a letter from the headmaster, Dr Roy, and there were then sections for each of the three schools. There were also articles about the careers department and the Hewett School Association.
Topical Features
Topical features included the covering of the school swimming pool; community services; a televised debate; the debating society; a survey of the over 75s; and brasses and brass rubbing. There was even an advice column written by “Susan Hewett“.

The magazine highlighted a range of artistic, dramatic, literary and sporting achievements. Students’ art work and photographs illustrated the magazine throughout. Not all the art work or photographs were labelled but some that were included those by Howard Clarke; Keith Gosden; and Joyce Reynolds. I am grateful to Janine Birt for letting me know that the plaster relief on p29 was her work.

Throughout, the magazine contained examples of students’ written work including by Richard Alden; Graham Bode; Roger Boothby; Shirley Buxton; Edward Cross; Elizabeth Cross; Andrew Deller; Andrew Fulcher; Janet Illingworth (2); Norma Lewis; Everard Mascarenhas (2); Glenis Moore; John Murdoch; Ian Paul; Edward Percival; John Pridham; Mandy Revell; Teresa Rickwood (2); Gillian Sadler; Christopher Stapley; Tessa Waite; and Robert Warnes.
