Went Boating at Belper. Notes Grandad went boating in Belper again. He does not say how he went, or who he went with, if anyone. However, he probably went with grandma, Ethel Cirket. Went to Prims. Notes Grandad went to “Prims”. “Prims” is a reference to Primitive Methodists, in general, and to Bourne Primitive Methodist Chapel in Kirkby, specifically, see Chapter 17. He probably went with grandma, Ethel Cirket. They were “courting” at this time and would marry in 1930, see Chapter 16.

Cyril went for his holiday. Notes Cyril refers to grandad’s brother Cyril Parkin. At this point, they were running the family shoe and boot making and repairing business together, see Chapter 13.
