Grandad noted that he stayed in. This was relatively unusual as he usually went out on a Saturday, often boating, see Chapter 21. Given the next day’s entry, I wonder if grandma, Ethel Cirket, was already developing a cold and feeling unwell, see Chapter 23. They were “courting” at this time and would marry in 1930, see Chapter 16.
