After tea went to Scalby Mills.

Notes
Grandad was in Scarborough for a week’s holiday, see Chapter 21. On this day, after tea, he went to Scalby Mills. This is an area at the northernmost point of Scarborough’s North Bay. It derives its name from Scalby Beck which enters the sea here and from the corn and bone mills that proliferated there from the 17th century. It remains a popular tourist destination. When grandad visitied, it was a popular place to walk and to get refreshments. The rocky outcrop of Monkey Island was a popular place to scramble over or have a picnic. However, it was removed in stages due to a mixture of erosion and coastal development. SEA LIFE Scarborough now stands where it was.
