Knocked off work.

I confess I am not sure what “knocked off work” means. Grandad usually worked a half day on Wednesdays. Perhaps he finished earlier than usual possibly because he was feeling unwell.
I am also not sure but the handwriting looks to have reverted back to his usual script after a few days of different-looking writing. I wonder if grandma wrote those entries for grandad. However, although she did this for him later in life when he was ill, I am not sure why she would have done this so early before they were married. Perhaps it was grandad and he was just trying to write more neatly!
