Grandad went to Crich and Matlock. He may well have gone with grandma, Ethel Cirket, as they were “courting” and would get married in 1930, see Chapter 16. They may have gone by motorbike as grandad owned an Alldays Allon motorcycle between 1921 and 1931, see Chapter 18.
Crich is about 12 miles from Kirkby and is pretty much en route to Matlock which is around 15 miles from Kirkby.
