Notes
Morning Service
Mum went to the morning (am) service at St Peter’s Park Lane Methodist Church. She said it was a nice service taken by Rev Barton, see Chapter 124.

Rev E T Barton
Rev Eric Tomlin Barton was born in September 1906 in Edmonton Middlesex. He entered the Wesleyan Ministry in 1931 and seems to have served as a Minister, possibly a supernumerary, in Norwich between at least 1972 and 1989. He died in Norwich in May 1991.
Typing Rev Eddy’s Work
According to mum’s CV, see Chapter 105, she ran a typing and duplicating business from home until 1975. She also did typing and duplicating for church. On this occasion, she noted that she finished typing the rest of her work for Rev Eddy (GTE) before going to church (at 11am).
Drayton for Tea
Mum noted that we went to grandma’s in Drayton for tea. This was our usual practice on Sunday afternoons, see Chapter 122. P refers to my older sister Tricia (Patricia), R to me and A to my younger brother Alan. We cut grandma’s lawns. Grandma’s house had large lawns at the front and back and these required frequent cutting, see Chapter 126,
“Jonah“
I assume that mum’s reference to “Jonah” means that this was the theme of the service and/or sermon at night. As seen from the above cutting, the superintendent Minister at that time, Rev Ream, was the speaker. Mum considered it quite good, see Chapter 124.
Letter to Dad
Roy refers to my father Royle Drew. Mum wrote him a letter but did not post it, see Chapter 114. I suspect that she was annoyed about something but the diaries don’t give a clue as to what.
Streaming Cold
Mum had a streaming cold, see Chapter 116, so went to bed at 9.30pm.
Senokot
Mum noted taking one Senokot (S) presumably for constipation, see Chapter 116. Senokot is a senna-containing medicine for the treatment of constipation.
Antidepressants
Mum had had severe struggles with her mental health, suffering with depression and anxiety, see Chapter 116. At this point, she was not taking antidepressants every day but, on this occasion, she took one tablet of amitriptyline (Tryptizol, T) at night.
