Notes

Services at St Peter’s Park Lane Methodist Church

Mum attended both services at St Peter’s Park Lane Methodist Church, see Chapter 124. These were at 11am and 6.30pm.

The Eastern Evening News published details of “Divine Services” every Saturday. These are the Methodist services scheduled for 16 February 1976

Horrible” Morning Service

Mum considered the morning (am) service “horrible” but she did not specify why. It was taken by the church’s senior Minister Rev W G B Ream (Mr R). It is fair to say that mum did not particularly enjoy his services, see Chapter 124.

Good” Evening Service

However, she thought the service at night had been “good“. This was led by Rev Kenneth (Ken) F Elworthy who was the junior Minister at the church at that time, see Chapter 124.

Stripping Walls

Mum was in the process of decorating our two downstairs rooms, which she referred to as the “lounge” and “dining room“, see Chapter 126. She had painted the dining room ceiling and now she moved furniture out of that room so that she could strip wallpaper from the walls. She noted that this was hard work.

Antidepressants

Mum had had severe struggles with her mental health, suffering with depression and anxiety, see Chapter 116. Mum was on antidepressants. She took one tablet of amitryptilline (Tryptizol, T) at night.

Senokot

Mum noted taking one Senokot (S) presumably for constipation. Senokot is a senna-containing medicine for the treatment of constipation.
