Notes

Grandma Was Keeping Grandad’s Diary

In October, the handwriting had changed meaning, I think, that grandad was not well enough to keep his own diary and grandma did this for him, see Chapter 113. She referred to grandad in the first person as “me/I/my“.

Grandad Was Not Very Well

Grandad was quite unwell having had a stroke in October, see Chapter 116. Grandma noted that he was “still so weary” and that he slept most of the day. The male nurse came and gave him a bed bath. Mum noted that he had a blood test.

Dr Leeming

Dr Leeming was one of the Drayton GPs. He came to see grandad again and altered his tablets, see Chapter 116.

Cleaning

Mum noted cleaning the house in the morning (am), see Chapter 126.

Typing in the Afternoon

According to mum’s CV, see Chapter 105, she ran a typing and duplicating business from home until 1975. She also did typing and duplicating for church. On this occasion, she noted typing in the afternoon (aft), see Chapter 121.

Mrs Tilsley

According to her CV, from 1973 to 1974, mum cared for a sick/elderly lady two days per week. This was Mrs Pauline Tilsley who lived at 24 Lime Tree Road, see Chapter 105. Mum went to see her for an hour. She noted it was nice, see Chapter 121.

Antidepressants

During this period, mum had had severe struggles with her mental health, suffering with depression and anxiety, see Chapter 116. On this occasion, she noted that she took one tablet of amitryptilline (Tryptizol, T).
