Grandad – Miss Cooke gave us her night commode it is a very good one, better than the one I made at Kirkby. Mr Newsom called with 40 bags for use in the bed (not leg).
Mum – Typed all day. P, A & E went to a JMA Jigsaw Puzzle Sponsor Day. P&A did 4 hours. E did 7½ hours. Still got longings for Thursday or “someone special”. P went to a Rangers event at Hethersett in evening.

Notes
Night Commode
Grandma’s friend, Miss Cooke, gave grandad a night commode, see Chapter 116. Grandad noted that it was a very good one, better than the one he had made in Kirkby during the second world war, see Chapter 31.
Drainage Bags
At this time, grandad had an indwelling urinary catheter, see Chapter 116. Mr Newsome was a friend of grandma and grandad’s. From time to time, he gave grandad catheter supplies. On this occasion, he gave him 40 bags. These were the type that could be used in bed. During the day, he used a different type which strapped to his leg.
Typing
According to mum’s CV, see Chapter 105, she ran a typing and duplicating business from home until 1975. She also did typing and duplicating for church. On this occasion, she noted typing all day.
Sponsored Jigsaw Puzzles
P, A & E refers to my siblings Tricia (Patricia), Alan and Liz (Elizabeth). They all went to a sponsored jigsaw puzzle event in aid of JMA, Junior Missionary Association, see Chapter 124. Mum noted that Tricia and Alan each did four hours whereas Liz did 7½ hours.
Longings
Mum noted that she still had longings for “Thursday” or “someone special”. The reference to Thursday relates to meetings she had then with Rev Dowson. “Someone” or “someone special” was how mum referred to a possible soulmate/life partner, see Chapter 114.
Rangers
My older sister Tricia (Patricia) was part of a Rangers group, essentially Guides for older girls, see Chapter 122. On this occasion, she went to a Rangers event in Hethersett.
