Notes
Grandma and Auntie Dolly Went to Volunteer at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital Canteen
Ethel refers to my grandmother Ethel May Cecilia Parkin. Dolly refers to Dorothy Rose who we knew as Auntie Dolly although she was my grandmother’s first cousin. Grandma’s father (Charles Cirket) and Auntie Dolly’s mother (Lois Rose née Cirket) were siblings. Auntie Dolly visited grandma and grandad often coming by bus from where she lived in Bedford to Norwich bus station, see Chapter 122. She had arrived on the 2nd.
Grandma used to help as a volunteer in the canteen at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, see Chapter 116. She had been doing this since April 1968, see Chapter 88.
Grandma Bought Batteries
While grandma was in Norwich, she bought two new batteries for her radio from Halfords, see Chapter 125. Grandad noted that they cost £1.06.
Mum Moved Furniture Around
Mum noted that she brought a dresser down from one of th attic rooms to her bedroom, see Chapter 117.
Someone from Roneo Serviced the Duplicator
According to her CV, see Chapter 105, mum ran her own typing/duplicating business from home between 1965 and 1975. Mum had bought a Roneo duplicator in December 1963, see Chapter 85, and presumably it was this being serviced. I recall these from both home and school and have memories of mum doing typing and duplicating, particularly for church, from home. I remember, as a child, helping mum collate and fold church magazines.

Alan Had His Hair Cut
Alan refers to my younger brother. He had his hair cut. Mum noted that this cost fifty pence.
Mum Went to Work in the Afternoon
Based on her CV, see Chapter 105, mum worked as part-time receptionist for Drs Downes and Day, see Chapter 121. She went to work in the afternoon (aft).
