Ethel went to the ladies meeting at Mile Cross, they had a dinner supplyed free. In the morning we had snow, it was very cold today, Bread strike finished, had 1 delivered.

Ethel refers to my grandmother Ethel May Cecilia Parkin. The ladies’ meeting referred to was at Mile Cross Methodist Church, see Chapter 107.

There had been a national bread strike since 1 December 1974 and this had led to shortages of bread, see Chapter 112.
