Ethel went to Mile Cross LM to scotch market.

Notes

Ethel refers to my grandmother Ethel May Cecilia Parkin. Mile Cross LM refers to Mile Cross Ladies’ Meeting which was a weekly women’s meeting held at Mile Cross Methodist Church. Grandma sometimes attended, see Chapter 107.

I think the last two words are “scotch market“. I don’t know what this was, perhaps a Scottish-themed market. Google guides me to the scotch whisky market which is unlikely to be relevant! One thing of note is that Mile Cross held a fair each November and this had various names in the early 1960s, see Chapter 79. Perhaps this was just the name for the fair that year.
