Ethel went to DLM it was the 10th anniversary of the meeting, there were about 40 or just over (43). President Ex Nixon was not very well. Ex President Nixon has been very ill this month.

Ethel refers to my grandma, Ethel May Cecilia Parkin. DLM stands for Drayton Ladies’ Meeting which was a weekly women’s meeting held at Drayton Methodist Church. My grandmother had started it when she first moved to Drayton in 1964, see Chapter 107.
Richard Nixon had been re-elected as US President in November 1972 but he resigned and was replaced by Gerald Ford in August 1974, see Chapter 112.
