Thursday 1 August 1974

17 ladies & 3 men enjoyed Games, a reading & Tea here. The men sat in the bedroom.

Notes

Grandad was unwell at this time having had a stroke in early April, see Chapter 100. Based on handwriting, I think grandma mainly kept his diary for him between 24 April and 27 August. Mostly, she used grandad’s voice. She referred to herself in the third person and grandad in the first person.

Grandma was part of a group of ladies that met every Thursday at Drayton Methodist Church. However, they did not meet formally during August but often met informally in each other’s houses, see Chapter 107. This was one such meeting.
