E went to DM. 14 present. Thunder Storm 4.30.

Notes
Grandad was unwell at this time having had a stroke in early April, see Chapter 100. Based on handwriting, I think grandma mainly kept his diary for him between 24 April and 27 August. Mostly, she used grandad’s voice. She referred to herself in the third person, for example referring to herself here as E. So, E in this entry refers to my grandmother Ethel May Cecilia Parkin.
DM refers to a women’s meeting that was held at Drayton Methodist Church on a Thursday afternoon, see Chapter 107. DM possibly stands for Drayton Methodist or Drayton Meeting. Grandad referred to it as DLM for Drayton Ladies’ Meeting. Grandad did not often note attendance at this meeting except where it was particularly low or high. Based on this, it appears that attendance would have usually been between around 10 and 20.
