E washed, went for tablets. I had a good day. E went on hospital duty.

Notes
Grandad was unwell at this time having had a stroke in early April, see Chapter 100. However, today he had a good day. Based on handwriting, I think grandma mainly kept his diary for him between 24 April and 27 August. Mostly, she used grandad’s voice. She referred to herself in the third person, in this case as E. So, E stood for Ethel May Cecilia Parkin. “I” refers to grandad.
Monday was washing day, see Chapter 109. While grandma was keeping the diary, she often referred to it, although grandad himself rarely, if ever, did.
Grandma collected tablets which I guess were mainly for grandad although some could have been for her. The reference to her hospital duty relates to the voluntary work she did in the canteen at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, see Chapter 100.
