Thursday 4 April 1974

Dr Gale called to see me he said I had had a stroke. I went to see Ken’s extension to the chalet kitchen etc. Ethel went to DLM about 15.50.

Notes

Grandad was unwell, see Chapter 100, having collapsed two days earlier. I am not sure why there was such a long delay in getting medical help. Dr Gale was one of their GPs.

Ken refers to Ken Bell who was grandma and grandad’s next-door-but-one neighbour at 162 Drayton High Road.

Ethel refers to my grandmother Ethel May Cecilia Parkin. DLM refers to Drayton Ladies’ Meeting which was based at Drayton Methodist Church, see Chapter 107.
