Ethel went with a ladies party to a Methodist Church at Sheringham. I cleaned the roto motor it was choked with grass.

Notes
Ethel refers to my grandmother Ethel May Cecilia Parkin. She was active in Drayton Methodist Church, particularly the ladies’ group associated with it, see Chapter 107. In the case of this trip, Sheringham Methodist Church was still relatively new when they visited having been opened in 1968, see Chapter 90.

I think grandad is referring here to the roto mower. While the mower had a motor, I suspect it was the blades that were choked with grass. Grandma and grandad had been cutting the back lawn the previous two days. They had large lawns at the front and back of their house. These took a lot of mowing and, gradually, it took grandma and grandad longer to do and eventually became too much for them, see Chapter 109.
