Thursday 28 February 1974

Ethel went to DLM. Ethel & I went with Barbara (she also took Mrs Davis) to vote in the Drayton village hall. I did more at the windmill.

Notes

Ethel refers to my grandmother Ethel May Cecilia Parkin. DLM refers to Drayton Ladies’ Meeting which was part of Drayton Methodist Church, see Chapter 107.

Barbara refers to Barbara Carpenter. She was grandma and grandad’s next-door neighbour who lived at 164 Drayton High Road. Mrs Davis refers to Rosa Davis. She was a friend of grandma’s who also attended Drayton Ladies’ Meeting. She lived close to Drayton Methodist Church but attended Surrey Chapel in Norwich. She moved to Eckling Grange in Dereham and died there in 1978.

Grandma and grandad were voting in the general election that took place in February 1974, see Chapter 112.

Grandad had made three windmills in the 1960s and he spent a lot of time maintaining and repairing them, see Chapter 109.
