Ethel & I tidied up the lounge, it is very nice. Ethels feet are not much better I am still a bit shakey. Mr Hogdson called to see me.

Notes

Ethel refers to my grandmother Ethel May Cecilia Parkin.

They had just had their lounge decorated by Mr Claxton, see Chapter 102. This is why they had to tidy up the lounge.

Grandad had been in hospital and had had surgery for his prostate problems, see Chapter 100. He had been discharged a couple of days previously which is presumably why he felt shaky. Grandma had been suffering with painful feet for some time.

I believe Mr Hogdson refers to Mr Hodgson who was friendly with grandad although I think the main friendship was between grandma and Mrs Hodgson.
