Ethel & I put my books in the book-case. It made me tired but pleased they are in. Mr Claxton reversed the motor out of the mower to run anti-clockwise. Ethel went to DLM.

Ethel refers to my grandmother Ethel May Cecilia Parkin.
They had just had their lounge decorated by Mr Claxton, see Chapter 102. This is why they had to replace grandad’s books.
Grandad had been in hospital and had had surgery for his prostate problems, see Chapter 100. He had been discharged a couple of days previously which is why he got tired.
The motor mentioned here was from a mower grandad collected from our old house in Waverley Road, see Chapter 109. He found that it ran clockwise and he wanted it to go anti-clockwise. He installed it into his planer in March 1974.
DLM refers to Drayton Ladies’ Meeting which ran from Drayton Methodist Church, see Chapter 107.
