Tuesday 22 January 1974

We are both a bit better. Still trouble in the country re miners pay. Mr Claxton called to see us about decorating.

Notes

Both grandma and grandad had been suffering with their health. Grandad had prostatic symptoms and grandma had painful feet. On top of that, both had had colds, see Chapter 100.

Grandad commented on the “trouble in the country” a number of times. This related to the effects of ongoing industrial action including shortages of electricity, see Chapter 112.

Mr Claxton was a builder, painter and decorator who did some decorating for grandma and grandad in January and February 1974, see Chapter 109. I have not found details of who he was. He finished the work by 11 February at a cost of £38.41.
