Ethel went to DLM but she could not walk very well, her feet are a little better. I am not too happy with the new tablets Dr Gale gave me on tuesday. Still trouble in the country re miners etc.

Notes

Ethel refers to my grandmother Ethel May Cecilia Parkin. DLM refers to Drayton Ladies’ Meeting which took place at Drayton Methodist Church, see Chapter 107.

Grandma was suffering with painful feet. Grandad had prostate-related symptoms which resulted in him having surgery later in the month. For details of both grandma and grandad’s health during this period, see Chapter100. Dr Gale was one of grandma and grandad’s GPs.

For details of the “trouble in the country” that grandad referred to, see Chapter 112.
