I pulled the bird table to pieces it had rotted very badly, I am going to make a new one. Sheila took Roger to Butlins at Clacton, Alan was not too well, she brought him home and Roger came back with E & his dad by train on the Saturday.

Sheila refers to my mother Sheila May Drew nee Parkin. Roger refers to me, Alan refers to my brother Alan Charles Drew and E refers to my sister Elizabeth (Liz) Mary Tidy nee Drew. After mum and dad had split up, grandad no longer referred to him by name but as “his [or their] dad“. In this case, dad had taken Liz and Alan to Butlin’s in Clacton and I replaced Alan as he was ill , see Chapter 106.
