I cut the grass at the front of the wall. E & D went out for the day to Lowestoft.
Grandma and grandad had large lawns at the front and back of their house which required a lot of maintenance including mowing, see Chapter 109. On this occasion, grandad was cutting a small piece of grass between their front wall and the road.
E refers to my grandma Ethel May Cecilia Parkin. D refers to grandma’s first cousin Dorothy Rose who we knew as children as Auntie Dolly. She lived in Bedford and visited grandma and grandad about three times per year, see Chapter 106.
