Arthur came & fixed the tiles in the window, he also helped me clear the back lawn of cones & branches which fell on Monday. I did the front lawn later.

Arthur refers to Arthur Elsegood, grandad’s friend. I am not sure which window he is referring to or if he is referring to the windmill – see Chapter 109. Grandma and grandad had large lawns both front and back with the largest at the back. They were surrounded by pine trees. So, whenever the wind blew, there was a big job clearing cones, needles, twigs and branches from the lawns.
