Friday 23 February 1923

Len & I went to Sutton after 10pm to help get Thorny out.

Notes

Len refers to grandad’s brother, John Leonard Parkin (see Chapter 1) .

Sutton refers to Sutton in Ashfield.

I believe the word is “Thorny” which I believe refers to a Thornycroft bus (see Chapter 18). Other references to this are on 1 November 1922, when Arthur (grandad’s brother-in-law – Arthur Evans) had a breakdown with the Thornycroft, and on 25 March 1923, when grandad helped put a cog in the “Thorny” gear box.
