Ethel refers to my grandmother Ethel May Cecilia Parkin. Ray refers to her brother Ray Cirket. Ray was grandad’s friend. Winnie and Ray were husband and wife.
This is one of the first accounts of grandma and grandad going out somewhere together, see Chapter 16. The pantomime was staged at the Theatre Royal in Nottingham. I found an advert for it in the West Bridgford Advertiser of 17 January 1925.
