Friday 12 April 1974

Good Friday. Very cold. We all had nap. E&D went to DMC evening meeting.

Notes

Grandad was unwell at this time having had a stroke a few days earlier, see Chapter 100. This explains why his handwriting was particularly difficult to read at this time. I am not completely sure of the word I have transcribed as nap. It looks more like map! But, I have gone with nap as it makes more sense and fits with the way he wrote “n”.

E refers to my grandmother Ethel May Cecilia Parkin. D refers to my Auntie Dolly whose full name was Dorothy Rose. She was grandad’s first cousin. She was staying with grandma and grandad, see Chapter 106. DMC refers to Drayton Methodist Church, see Chapter 107.
