Grandad went to Rudyard Lake, see Chapter 18. He probably went with grandma, Ethel Cirket. They were “courting” at this time and would marry in 1930, see Chapter 16. I am not sure how they would have travelled but it was a round trip of about 90 miles. Grandad had a motorbike at that time possibly with a sidecar. So, they might have used that or they could have gone by bus as grandad did later in 1938.
