Tuesday 20 January 1976

Nice day at work. Took car in for MOT & to have battery checked – battery OK they say. MOT OK. Roger lost his temper with Patricia at night – I had to come between them to stop him hitting her. What should I do? 1T. 1S.

Notes

Mum Worked for Mr Ashken and Mr Stephens

During this period, mum worked as part-time medical secretary for the private practice of two surgeons, Mr Ashken and Mr Stephens, see Chapter 121. This practice was based at 41 Newmarket Road. She worked all day on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and half day on Fridays. On this occasion, as it was Tuesday, she worked all day. She noted that she had a nice day at work.

Car

Mum took the car for an MOT and to have the battery checked, see Chapter 127. She had not been able to start the car the previous day and thought that the battery was flat. However, the garage said the battery was OK and the car passed its MOT. At this point, mum had a Simca, which she and dad had bought in February 1972, see Chapter 110.

Sibling Conflict

Roger refers to me and Patricia to my older sister Tricia. According to mum, I lost my temper with Tricia and mum had to come between us to stop me hitting her, see Chapter 114. She also noted that she was unsure what to do.

Antidepressants

During this period, mum had had severe struggles with her mental health, suffering with depression and anxiety, see Chapter 116. She was on antidepressants. On this occasion, she took one tablet of amitryptilline (Tryptizol, T).

Senokot

Mum noted taking one Senokot (S) presumably for constipation. Senokot is a senna-containing medicine for the treatment of constipation.
