Grandad was unwell at this time having had a stroke a few days earlier, see Chapter 100. This explains why his handwriting was particularly difficult to read at this time.
Ethel refers to my grandmother Ethel May Cecilia Parkin. Dolly refers to grandad’s cousin Dorothy Rose who was known to us as Auntie Dolly. She often visited grandma and grandad from her home in Bedford, see Chapter 106.
DLM refers to Drayton Ladies’ Meeting, see Chapter 107.
