Went for operation, the surgeon could not risk taking out my prostate gland as my heart was too wonky, he scraped my bladder. I was put to sleep. Had a bath & fell back. Male nurse helped me out & dried me. Went for OP at 4 o’clock back at 6.20 “only a scrape“.
Notes
Grandad was in hospital at this time and his diary notes are a little difficult to follow. In addition to the main entries, there are other entries on a piece of card which has been stapled to the previous page. Those entries are labelled by day but not by date. I have tried to match them. For details of grandad’s illness, see Chapter 100.
From grandad’s description, it seems that the surgeon decided against open prostatectomy in favour of transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP). This was because of grandad’s underlying poor health and heart condition.
