I am not completely sure what Kirkby W refers to in this context. It could be Kirkby Woodhouse or Kirkby Wesleyan. However, I am not aware of either in the context of a male voice choir. There was a Kirkby male voice choir led by Joseph Hemstock. They had been involved in Nottingham Music Festival the previous day. Perhaps this was a reference to them.
