Had a poor night got up 9 times did not work in my cabin. Ethel went for the OAP & also the doctors brought me some tablets and also a bottle of medicine. After dinner Ethel went to a meeting at the Congregational church in Norwich.

Notes

From 1971, grandad had been experiencing prostate problems. These were gradually getting worse and he would have surgery the following year, see Chapter 100.

Grandad had a purpose-built cabin at his house in which he did practical work, such as woodworking, see Chapter 85.

Ethel refers to my grandmother Ethel May Cecilia Parkin. OAP refers to old age pension. For details of this, see Chapter 104.

The Congregational church is probably a reference to the United Reformed Church in Princes Street, see Chapter 107.
