I did odd jobs in my cabin. Ethel went by bus to paint a cupboard for Sheila at College Road. The man who wanted Waverley Road cried off because he could not sell his own.
Notes
Grandad had a purpose-built cabin which he used for woodworking and other practical tasks, see Chapter 85.
Ethel refers to my grandmother, Ethel May Cecilia Parkin. Sheila refers to my mother Sheila May Drew nee Parkin.
We moved from 19 Waverley Road to 192 College Road after mum and dad split up, see Chapter 102. We first moved to College Road and only later sold the house in College Road.
Grandma came to College Road by bus. For more details of bus services in that location at that time, see Chapter 110.
