Ethel & I again worked in the garden. Arthur came to see me, paid for the organ £5. He and Rose had been on a coach tour to the Scottish lakes 8 days Sun: 26 to Sun 2nd.


Ethel refers to my grandmother, Ethel May Cecilia Parkin. For details of work grandma and grandad did in their garden, see Chapter 109.

Arthur refers to grandad’s friend Arthur Elsegood. He had bought an organ from grandad for five pounds, see Chapter 109.

Rose refers to Arthur’s wife. Their holiday is mentioned in Chapter 110.
