Dolly cut the back lawn. I raked the cones & needles of the front lawn.

Dolly refers to grandma’s first cousin, Dorothy Rose who we knew as Auntie Dolly. She visited grandma and grandad frequently, see Chapter 106.

Grandma and grandad had large lawns at the front and back of their house which required frequent mowing. They were surrounded by conifers which shed cones and needles, particularly when windy. So, these had to be cleared before the grass could be cut, see Chapter 109.
