Ethel came from Lowestoft by train home about 14.30. This week has been very warm from Monday. This week Roy left Sheila & the children & went to live in Norwich. Why? I do not know.

Ethel refers to my grandmother Ethel May Cecilia Parkin.
She came back from Lowestoft where she had been on holiday with her friend Mrs Davis, see Chapter 106. She came back by train, see Chapter 110.
Grandad noted that dad had “left” us. This issue is covered in some detail in Chapter 99 although I refer to it as mum and dad splitting up. I had just turned 13 although. from memory, I thought I was younger.
